When coming up with hashtags for your posts it can be a bit overwhelming. But, hashtags are very important when it comes to new followers and potential clients finding you in all the social media noise. We have 4 tips that we know will get you thinking and moving in the right direction.

1. Utilize all 30 Hashtags
Instagram gives you 30 hashtags and there is no reason that you shouldn’t utilize all 30! The more hashtags you use the more chances that potential followers or potential customers will find you. Use the tools that these platforms give you to your advantage.
2. Look to successful accounts that are in your niche
Look to the ones that have been successful and see what hashtags they are using. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel! Use what has worked for others. Find influencers that have a similar business to you and see how they use their hashtags. And while you’re on their profile interact with their followers. If your content is similar their followers might want to follow you too! But, we want to make it clear that we don’t want you copying these accounts ~ original content is KEY! If you steal content from others not only is it in bad taste to directly copy someone else, it could get you into legal trouble and it surely won’t get you followers.
3. Use relevant hashtags
Remember to use hashtags that are relevant to YOUR post and directed at the audience YOU are trying to capture. Try not to reuse the same hashtags over and over again when some of the tags just don’t fit the post. When researching hashtags to use keep in mind the story you are trying to tell and only use the hashtags that compliment that!
4. Don’t use banned hashtags
Check Instagram ~ type in the hashtag, if it shows up then it is most likely safe, if it doesn’t show it up it is probably banned. You can also click on a hashtag and if it doesn’t show “most recent” option then there is a good chance it is a banned hashtag.
